Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) and Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage (CCUS)

A developing technology that captures carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions produced by the burning of fossil fuels for power generation or other industrial processes. In CCS, CO2 is separated from other gases, then compressed and transported to an underground storage site. CCUS goes a step further than storage, re-purposing the CO2 by converting it into plastics, concrete and other items.
